The Keating 5

I exorted my friend Brian Beutler today to talk more on his blog about the Keating 5 affair. Then I noticed I hadn't done the same. So here you go. In fact, if you click onto the Keating 5 link above, lo and behold, John McCain's face pops up.

Also, I quickly want to note that because of McCain's involvement in this scandal, Americans were left paying $124 billion.

McCain Suspends Campaign! Now What?

What will happen now that McCain has announced as of tomorrow he will suspend his campaign and head back to Washington to deal with the financial crisis facing America? And, even though he has asked Obama to delay the debates, what will he do if Obama says no?

TPM asked some great questions today too: "Will all of McCain's ads come down? Will the campaign stop sending out statements? Will campaign aides all leave headquarters and turn out the lights?" It's not yet clear as to what this suspension means to the campaign. I imagine it's one more diversion meant to avoid the press. Not only so, but McCain has seen a drastic dip in the polls since this financial mess reared it's ugly head. I'd like to naively rejoice and think it's because at this point he sees no chance of victory and is simply giving up. Who knows, but for anyone to ask whether or not this is a political ploy, OF COURSE IT IS!!! Come on now.

The Bailout Ballet

Ok, I don't completely understand this whole Wall St. mess, mostly because I didn't buy a house I couldn't afford from a bank that shouldn't have lent the money, but I did read Dodd's plan and think it goes something like this: along with proposed regulations, the government will borrow $700 billion from God knows who, and then they will give it to the Treasury to buy assets, Goldman Sachs, Lehmans, AIG, FANNIE and FREDDIE MAC, etc. Then, the Treasury will give back to the government 65% of 20% of the profits. However, Americans, me, will not own any of the companies for which we are paying. Nope! Not even a profit sharing clause in there that allows some of us to reap some benefits, if any?

Nice Try Campbell Brown!

CNN's Campbell Brown has been receiving huge accolades all day because of her direct challenge to the McCain campaign to stop the sexism and allow Palin to be confronted by the media. Campbell states that she's "tired of the sexism." Hurrah for Campbell! However, I'm not so sure the McCain campaign is keeping the media from her because she is a woman. For the most part, the campaign saw what happened to her during the Gibson interview. It all comes down her being an idiot, not a woman. Furthermore, it's very clear to most that Campbell and the McCain camp have been feuding since the RNC, so I don't buy her feminist rant. Nice try Campbell!
